This year's conference is hosted by Reed Exhibitions, and as always, it has received strong support from a number of world-class and national institutions and organizations, such as the World Packaging Organization (WPO), the China Packaging Federation (CPF), the China Association for Circular Economy (CACE), the Ellen MacArthur Foundation (EMAF), the Key Laboratory of State Testing of Food Contact Materials (Guangdong), the IQTC, and the S-Future Cross-border Communication Platform for a Sustainable Future (S-Future).

This conference will be held on September 15th and 16th using a combination of "online + offline". Participants include raw material suppliers, packaging production companies, brand terminals, retail and e-commerce, recycling/recycling Enterprises and other packaging industry chain colleagues.

This year's conference focused more on cutting-edge products and technologies in the packaging industry. Focusing on the core theme of "sustainable development", it set up industry-wide collaboration to accelerate the sustainable development of packaging and "begin with the end in mind" to look at the promotion and sustainability of the industry by circular economy. Latest progress in policies related to plastic pollution control in 2022

Plastic waste has increased dramatically around the world, and pollution caused by environmental leakage has become a global problem. The host told us that the target date must be strict and clear through the introduction of plastic pollution control policies. It also took us to understand the stages of plastic pollution control in China and that our country will promote the supervision and assessment indicators and scoring standards for plastic pollution control, and promote the implementation of ban and limit indicators and special work.

my country's waste plastic recycling rate accounts for more than 30%, which is an excellent level internationally. In the future, our country will explore a new generation of vision-fusion AI robots to achieve intelligent and efficient sorting of low-value, difficult-to-recycle plastics in multiple varieties, with high accuracy and speed.

Current status of recycling of paper, plastic, metal, and glass materials and development path with Chinese characteristics

Secretary-General Pan shared the current recycling situation of packaging recycled materials, the driving factors of green, low-carbon and circular development in the renewable resources industry, and the development of recycling with Chinese characteristics.

From 2012 to 2021, the similar recycling of my country's main renewable resources has increased significantly. The economic development plan covers industry, society and agriculture. We will build a resource recycling industrial system, improve resource utilization efficiency, build a recycling system for waste resources and materials, build a resource recycling society and deepen agricultural economic development, and establish a recycling agricultural production method.

The total volume of waste plastic recycling in China in 2021 is approximately 21 million tons, an increase of approximately 10% compared with 2020. In the proportion of waste plastic recycling in China in 2021, waste PET accounts for 29%, waste PE accounts for 21% and 20%, which are still the main parts of my country's waste plastic recycling.

Construction of China’s food contact material standard system

Ms. Zhu Lei took us through the progress of the currently ongoing risk assessment project for recycled plastics used in food contact materials from the perspective of laws, regulations and competent authorities. By implementing scientific and effective standards system construction principles:

2. Steady implementation of the concept of food risk safety assessment

3. Systematically build a scientific migration experimental system

4. Further integrate with international advanced management models.

Ms. Zhu Lei also focused on the challenges of how to better protect the health of Chinese consumers, better implement the concept of sustainable development, better promote industrial development, and better adapt to the needs of supervision and law enforcement, so that the entire industry can help sustainable development, etc. The topic explains its own point of view.
